The US space agency NASA announced that its satellite, Erebus, will hit Earth this evening, after completing its mission in space for nearly 40 years.
And the US Space News website quoted NASA as saying: “The probability that the wreckage of Irbis will harm anyone on Earth is very low,” and it is likely that most of the 2,450-kilogram satellite will burn up when it enters Earth’s field.
ERPs was launched in 1984 aboard the space shuttle Challenger, and throughout its 38-year stay in space, it continued to collect ozone and atmospheric measurements until 2005, and scientists used this data to study how Earth absorbs and radiates solar energy.
