Supporters of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro broke into the country's parliament today (Sunday).
In a video uploaded to social networks, hundreds of people are seen entering the building chanting, with some waving the national flag.
Meanwhile, the current president of Brazil, Lula da Silva, is currently on an official visit to Sao Paulo.
Bolsonaro fled to Florida on the eve of his successor's inauguration a week ago.
In Florida he is protected from immediate legal jeopardy.
He is currently facing several legal issues due to his anti-democratic rhetoric and the way he has managed the pandemic.
Lula was sworn in last week as the country's president and sharply criticized his predecessor Jair Bolsonaro.
He pledged to bring significant change to restore the country that suffers from hunger, poverty and racism.
"Democracy is the big winner in these elections, we have overcome the most violent threats to the freedom of voting, and the despicable campaign of lies and hate," Lula told lawmakers.
He also accused Bolsonaro's administration of committing "genocide" by failing to respond properly to the coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 680,000 citizens.
