Under the slogan “Let's plant for a green future,” the Quneitra Governorate launched today, an afforestation campaign on the occasion of the 71st Tree Festival, by planting 2,000 various forest saplings on an area of 3 hectares in the environmental park in Al-Baath City.
The Governor of Quneitra, Eng. Moataz Abu Al-Nasr Jamran, pointed out in a statement to the media to the importance of caring for and increasing the natural and artificial forest areas, and protecting them from encroachments and unjust logging, and the need to cooperate with the civil society in order to preserve plant wealth, reforestation of all sites that were damaged by the war, and improve the reality of the cover. vegetation in all regions.
In turn, the Director of Quneitra Agriculture, Eng. Abdullah Sharara, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the Quneitra Agriculture Directorate's plan for the year 2022_2023 includes planting 43 hectares in the sites of the ecological garden, valiant garden, and squares.
The director of forestry in the Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Abbas Al-Ahmad, stated in a similar statement that the natural forest area in the governorate amounts to 623 hectares, distributed over the forest sites in Jabatha al-Khashab, Taranga, Hadar, Brega, Bir Ajam and al-Halis, while the artificial forest area is 2020 hectares in the reserves of Kom Muhairis and Nabeh al-Fawar. Al-Atm, Ain Al-Hamra, Al-Talaa, Sahita, Al-Rafid and Sidon.
