This week promises to be crucial for the Socialists.
Thursday evening, the activists are invited to vote for one of the three orientation texts carried by the three candidates for the post of first secretary: Olivier Faure, the outgoing, deputy of Seine-et-Marne, the ex-secretary of State and mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin, Hélène Geoffroy, and the mayor of Rouen, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, supported by the mayor of Paris and presidential candidate, Anne Hidalgo.
Several unknowns remain: the number of activists who will move and the balance of power between the three texts.
The first two will be put to the vote the following week before the congress itself, which will take place in Marseilles, from January 27 to 29.
After a terrible presidential score, 1.7%, which made them move into the second political division, the Socialists are trying to make themselves heard.
The still substantial number of their local elected officials and their parliamentarians as well as their role in the Nupes leave them hope...
