Mexico City - SANA
One person was killed and 57 others were injured when two subway trains collided in the Mexican capital, Mexico City.
And the Associated Press quoted the local police as saying in a statement today: “Two trains collided on the third line of the Mexico City metro between La Raza and Potrero stations in the city center, and this line was stopped, killing a woman and injuring 57, and rescuing four others who were trapped in one carriage.” Preliminary investigations indicated that the cause of the accident was deficiencies in maintenance procedures.
The metro witnessed a number of accidents in the past years, the most serious of which was the collapse of a railway bridge in May 2021 on the twelfth line, which killed 26 people and injured more than 60 others.
