Musician Leslie Mandoki is celebrating his 70th birthday in Munich.
Also invited: CSU boss Markus Söder.
And he also has a reproach in his luggage.
Munich – Born in Hungary, Leslie Mandoki came to Germany as a refugee and became known as a member of the band Dschinghis Khan.
He later celebrated further successes, including as a solo artist and producer.
Today he lives on Lake Starnberg in Bavaria with his wife Eva Mandoki and has three children.
He celebrated his 70th birthday in Munich on Saturday, January 7th.
The guests included numerous celebrities, including politicians Markus Söder and Armin Laschet.
On Mandoki's birthday: Söder meets Laschet - both politicians are calm
A meeting that was not without explosiveness in view of the past federal election campaign, in which the CSU boss Söder and the CDU boss Laschet sometimes vehemently argued about the chancellor candidacy.
At that time, Söder was defeated by Laschet, who in turn had to admit defeat to SPD chancellor candidate Scholz.
The meeting was therefore initially eagerly awaited.
But both politicians tried not to give the whole thing too much importance.
Laschet stated in advance that he would greet Söder with a hello and hello.
"I studied in Munich and know how to greet the prime minister."
Söder tried humor.
In his speech to Leslie Mandoki, he called him an outstanding musician and praised his ability to bring people together.
This is also evident when you look at the guest list: "Armin Laschet and I are both here today," says Söder.
Together with CDU boss Merz, Söder recently criticized the New Year's chaos in the strongest terms.
Söder with G7 gift to Mandoki – and love story
Of course, the Bavarian Prime Minister did not come to the music legend's birthday party empty-handed.
As a gift, he presented the 70-year-old with a backpack from the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau.
On top of that, there was a voucher "for one of the best barber shops in Munich," says Söder.
But that's not all - Söder had an anecdote ready for the guests.
With his first love he suffered from "romantic tinnitus".
His first girlfriend was a Jennifer Rush fan, and he often had to listen to her music, Söder said somewhat reproachfully to Mandoki.
The latter worked with Rush, which he "takes a little bit badly".
