(ANSA) - ROME, 08 JAN - The Christmas holidays end today and from tomorrow 8.5 million Italian students will return to class.
The return takes place in a week that promises to be very cold with institutions that still have to deal with high energy costs.
Before the Christmas break, some students in Alessandria and Bergamo protested the temperatures being too low in the classrooms of some schools.
At the schools of Desio, a municipality in the province of Monza and Brianza, a handbook was distributed to promote the culture of energy saving.
A series of good practices and useful advice aimed at containing energy consumption and combating waste.
"To achieve significant energy savings at school, we need the active participation of everyone, adults and pupils", is the
incipit of the handbook distributed to local schools to promote the culture of energy saving in schools.
The collection of guidelines is intended for school staff, pupils and all those who in various capacities collaborate in the offices of Desio's schools.
Among the recommendations we read: "Dress in layers - like an onion! to be able to better adapt to the internal temperature of the classrooms, both in summer and in winter".
And again: "Close the doors of everyone's classrooms. To change the air, don't keep the windows ajar for a long time, rather open them periodically for a few minutes".
"To work well, the radiators must be free, do not cover them with objects!".
According to a survey carried out in recent days by Schoola.net - on a sample of 5,000 high school students - almost half (44%) chatter their teeth when they are in class due to the low temperatures in the classroom.
To which is added a 31% who, while not talking about frost, still complain of some discomfort.
Only 1 out of 4, in the end, says they are in a pleasant environment from a climatic point of view.
