A car accident occurred in Mong Kok. A 60-year-old man was knocked down by a private car and was sent to hospital unconscious.
According to on-site news, at around 6:00 p.m. today (8th), a private car was driving along Mong Kok Road towards Sai Yee Street. When it reached the pedestrian crossing at the junction of Mong Kok Road and Shanghai Street, the front of the car on the left hit a person who was crossing the road. A 62-year-old man surnamed Zhuang.
Zhuang Nan fell unconscious, bleeding from his head and ears, and was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulancemen for treatment. A mask and a pool of blood were left behind at the scene.
The front of the private car was dented. The 29-year-old male driver surnamed Wu passed an alcohol breath test. He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm to others and is being detained for investigation.
Police are investigating whether the incident involved someone punching a light.
An eyewitness said that at the time of the incident, Zhuang Nan ran across the road at a pedestrian crossing. He suspected that he saw cars on the second and third lines and wanted to speed up. However, his vision might be blocked and he did not find any cars on the fourth line. When he arrived, he couldn't dodge and was hit by a private car.
At the junction of Shanghai Street and Mong Kok Road in Mong Kok, an old man was hit by a private car and sent to hospital unconscious.
