Today, the Iranian embassy in Damascus commemorated the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and his companions, through an event entitled (He will remain immortal), at the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.
President Bashar Al-Assad was represented in the event by the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, and he said in a speech: “Syria will not forget this generous man, and the stations of his life will remain inspiring to all aspiring to elevate the status of their homelands, and his fingerprints that he imprinted during the course of his work will not fade on every corner One of the pillars of self-resistance work.”
Minister Al-Khalil expressed his deep gratitude to the martyr Soleimani, whose interests Syria occupied a wide area, in each of the workplaces that he occupied throughout his life, adding: “The martyr Soleimani was an exceptional leader, who was always in the first ranks in any work. Military or humanitarian, in addition to his humility, which he was known for, and his diplomacy, which he witnesses, as he believed in the importance of striving to build bridges of good relations and rapprochement between the countries and peoples of the region.
Minister Al-Khalil pointed out that the martyrdom of Soleimani came as a culmination of the principles for which he lived and worked, his belief in the causes of his country, and the correctness of the approach he chose in confronting the forces of injustice and global arrogance, indicating that he had achieved qualitative achievements that suffocated the enemies, and imprinted their hearts with terror and their souls with anxiety, until the desire became His assassination is their main target.
For his part, the Iranian ambassador to Damascus, Mahdi Sobhani, confirmed in a speech to him that the commemoration of the martyrdom of Soleimani is a revival of a school, thought and principle, because his approach is a lamp that guides all the fighters who sacrifice the precious and precious things in order to achieve freedom, honor and independence for their homelands, stressing that the assassination of the martyr Soleimani will not destroy his goals. And his lofty principles, no matter how long it takes.
Ambassador Sobhani referred to the great role of the martyr Soleimani and the rise of the resistance that he organized in thwarting the American and Zionist projects and changing the power equation in favor of the peoples of the region and the axis of resistance.
The Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (General Command), Dr. Talal Naji, gave a glimpse into the life and journey of the martyr Soleimani, his characteristics and his thoughts, stressing that the resistance will remain on his path until victory and the liberation of the land, and that his pure and pure blood will not be wasted.
The event included the screening of films about the struggle of the martyr Soleimani and the sayings of a number of his leaders, in addition to patriotic songs glorifying martyrdom and martyrs from the Lebanese band (Izar), and a number of martyrs' families were honored.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense, General Mahmoud Shawa, the representative of Imam Khamenei in Syria, Sheikh Hamid Saffar Al-Harandi, the Director of the Consular and Expatriate Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Tammam Suleiman, the Chairman of the Syrian Arab People's Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People and Resisting the Zionist Project, Dr. Saber Falhout, and the Director General of the International Quds Foundation - Syria, Dr. Khalaf al-Muftah, a number of ambassadors and members of diplomatic missions accredited to Damascus, leaders and representatives of Palestinian factions, committees and bodies for the defense of prisoners, representatives of Syrian and Arab national parties, and religious, cultural and social figures.
Lieutenant General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Authority, and their companions were martyred as a result of an American air strike that targeted their car on the road to Baghdad Airport on January 3, 2020.
