On the day before New Year's Eve a family was in need, on Epiphany a wanderer in the ducal estate.

Kochel am See – During the Christmas holidays, two serious mountain accidents challenged the volunteers at the Kochler mountain rescue service.

On Epiphany, a hiker fell heavily at midday on the Herzogstand.

As the mountain rescue service writes on its Facebook page, the man was on the hiking trail between Fahrenbergkapelle and Herzogstandhaus.

There he fell on the icy path so badly that he suffered a serious thigh injury.

With the support of the "Christoph Murnau" helicopter, the patient was treated and taken to a hospital.

Six emergency services were deployed for the Bergwacht Kochel.

The Bergwacht Kochel points out that the hiking trails can currently be heavily icy.

This should be taken into account when planning the tour and equipping it.

80 meters down: family fell

Already on the day before New Year's Eve, the rescuers had been heavily challenged.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on the H2 hiking trail, a woman fell 80 meters in front of her family, the mountain rescue team also reports on their Facebook page.

Due to the initial report, the operations manager immediately requested a rescue helicopter, but this was currently not available.

Therefore, a mountain rescue emergency doctor was alerted, who was on his way from Bad Tölz to the scene in a very short time.

At the same time, two mountain rescue service members made their way to the patient.

The helicopter, which has since become free, then brought other emergency services to the scene of the accident, according to the mountain rescue service.

Crisis intervention service takes care of the children

After first aid by an emergency doctor, the seriously injured person was pulled into the helicopter using a rescue bag and winch.

Her companion, who was in shock, was also taken to a hospital.

In the meantime, the crisis intervention service (KID) was brought in to look after the woman's sons.

He took care of the children and then brought them to the hospital to their parents.

A total of ten emergency services from the Kochel Mountain Rescue Service and the helicopter crew from “Christoph 1” from Munich were deployed, the report says.
