A mob of radical supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro stormed the government district of the Brazilian capital Brasília.

This is currently in the USA, not far from the amusement park "Disney World" in the US state of Florida.

After the storm on Sunday evening, US Democrats have now demanded that the ex-president leave the country.

"Right now Bolsonaro is in Florida ... he should be extradited to Brazil," Democrat Joaquin Castro, a member of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, told CNN.

"The United States should not be a haven for this authoritarian man who inspired terrorism in Brazil."

In addition to the Democrat Castro, his parliamentary colleague Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also called for Bolsonaro to leave the United States.

"Nearly to the day two years after the US Capitol was attacked by fascists, we see fascist movements outside the same attempt in Brazil," Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter.

The US must stop granting Bolsonaro sanctuary in Florida.

Right-wing President Bolsonaro lost to left-wing politician Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the runoff last October and left office at the turn of the year.

He had never expressly acknowledged his defeat.

Radical Bolsonaro fans had repeatedly protested against Lula's victory after the election, hoping for a military coup from the country's armed forces.

During the storming of Brasília, Bolsonaro supporters rioted in the congress building, in Lula's seat of government, the Palácio do Planalto, and in the seat of the Supreme Court.

It took several hours for the police to regain control of the three buildings.

Bolsonaro himself condemned the act from afar.

He had left Brazil two days before the end of his term.

"Peaceful demonstrations are part of democracy," he wrote now from Florida.

“However, looting and raids on public buildings, such as those that took place today, are not included.” Throughout his tenure, he has always abided by the constitution “and respected and defended the law, democracy, transparency and our sacred freedom. «

"A Dangerous Man"

The US Democrats don't want to let the ex-president get away with it.

Bolsonaro is "a dangerous man," Castro told CNN, referring to the friendship between the ex-military and Trump.

Former Trump associates such as Stephen K. Bannon and Stephen Miller also tried to "spread what is truly an authoritarian fascist movement and inspire domestic terrorism in other countries around the world," Castro said.

"Brazil is an example of this." Bolsonaro "used the Trump script to inspire domestic terrorists and try to take over the government," Castro said.

The Democrat means the failed storming of the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. A mob tried to storm Parliament at the time.

The aim was to keep Donald Trump in office despite his electoral defeat by Joe Biden and thus to revise the election result by force.

A committee of inquiry now sees it as proven that the ex-president helped goad the crowd.
