Aktenzeichen XY has enjoyed great popularity for decades.
Now the TV show has announced a drastic step, a previously very popular service will be discontinued.
Ismaning – Aktenzeichen XY is probably one of the most popular TV formats in German television history.
The TV format has often been able to help solve previously unsolved criminal cases.
Millions of viewers have been following the show for decades.
However, many TV fans cannot understand a decision that has now been made: In future, Aktenzeichen XY will no longer provide information about the current criminal cases via the official Facebook page.
Aktenzeichen XY sets up a Facebook page – many fans regret the ZDF decision
The popular cult show flickers across German TV screens at regular intervals, and the creators of Aktenzeichen XY also provide information about the current criminal cases via Facebook.
The creators showed short clips of the TV show on Facebook, and many TV viewers may have felt reminded of the current broadcast through Facebook posts shortly before the show.
But that is now over for the time being, the official Facebook channel of the popular TV show has now been discontinued.
As the TV show itself announced a few days ago via Facebook, the ZDF show's Facebook presence will no longer be taken over by the ZDF show itself.
Instead, the general ZDF Facebook page should provide information about the latest editions of the program in the future.
And indeed: the Aktenzeichen XY Facebook page is no longer available.
Instead, moderator Rudi Cerne wished the fans of the cult show a Happy New Year at the end of December, but on the general ZDF Facebook page.

A change that is bitter for many TV fans.
Shortly after the step was announced, numerous unhappy reader comments were collected under the post.

Aktenzeichen fans don't have to be too sad, however, another format of the TV show has been available for weeks: with his own Aktenzeichen podcast "Aktenzeichen XY... Unforgotten Crimes", moderator Rudi Cerne and colleague Conny Neumeyer look at previous cases the cult show back.
On January 18, the latest edition of the TV show will flicker across TV screens.
