A skier in her fifties, who was part of a group of seven confirmed ski tourers from the French Alpine Club of Nice, died on Monday January 9 in an avalanche at the Col de Larche (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). ), we learned from the emergency services.
The avalanche occurred around 12:30 p.m. at a place called "
Bec de l'Aigle
", at an altitude of 2,500 m, in the Parpaillon massif.

Found under four meters of snow and in cardio-respiratory arrest, the victim died despite the intervention of the emergency services and his comrades.
Four members of the group were also swept away by the avalanche but were not injured.
Two of them were taken to the emergency services in a state of shock.
Judicial investigation opened
Significant resources have been mobilized to rescue the skiers: three helicopters and around twenty rescuers, including three dog teams, high mountain gendarmerie platoons (Pghm) from Jausiers (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) and Briançon (High mountains).
