The Andorran Minister of Finance, Eric Jover, accused of not having paid the taxes of a family company, handed in his resignation to the head of government Xavier Espot Zamora on Monday, January 9, the latter announced during a press conference.
In the morning, the Andorran press revealed that the Minister of Finance and government spokesman had not paid since 2019 the taxes of a family company of which he is the sole director.

The damage of the fraud would amount to around 60,000 euros according to the estimate of Andorran public finances, revealed by the press.

I was wrong to deduce that by not collecting and by not invoicing, nothing would happen
, ”acknowledged the minister following the revelations.
Legislative elections in the spring
Eric Jover, 45, affiliated with the governing Democrats party, had been in office since 2019 at the Ministry of Finance.
He had previously held positions in the executive committee of the ruling party and served as Minister of Education and Higher Education in the previous legislature.
He will be replaced by César Marquina, current Secretary of State for Digital Transition and Strategic Projects.
Legislative elections, the date of which has not been set, are scheduled for the spring in Andorra.
