Boris Palmer attacks the Greens: "I think the refugee convention is smarter than large parts of my party"

The convict is now to be deported to Afghanistan, but the situation in the country prevents this.

Boris Palmer has a clear opinion on this.

Tübingen - The fact that Tübingen's Mayor Boris Palmer often has a different view of topics often brings him encouragement, but also a lot of criticism.

In the past, Palmer has often overshot the mark with his opinion, which ultimately led to a party expulsion procedure in his party Bündnis 90/Die Grünen.

After his re-election as Mayor of Tübingen, some members of the Greens were again forgiving with Boris Palmer.

For a rapprochement, however, all actors must contribute something, as Baden-Württemberg's Finance Minister Danyal Bayaz (Greens) emphasized - including the controversial Palmer.

However, he announced that he would not even think about changing his style and is now teasing his own party again, as reported by BW24.

Three years ago, a 14-year-old girl was raped by an asylum seeker in the municipality of Illerkirchberg in Baden-Württemberg.

Both Boris Palmer and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Justice spoke out in favor of deporting the convicted perpetrator to Afghanistan.

However, due to the security situation on site, deportations to the country have been suspended since 2021 - and the perpetrator is now at large.

Although a majority of the Greens are against the deportation of Afghans, since according to the Residence Act it is refrained from if life, limb or freedom are specifically endangered there, Palmer is clearly opposed to it.

“I think the regulation of the Geneva Refugee Convention is wise: anyone who receives protection and then becomes a murderer and rapist has to go back to their home country.

Anyone who thinks that's too dangerous has to do without murder and rape," he told

.

When asked that his party's opinion was different, he said in an interview with the

: "That's right.

But in that case, I think the Geneva Refugee Convention is smarter than large parts of my party.”

Palmer further argues that a helper society has a right to respect.

“She can no longer help when those seeking help become murderers and rapists.

That's why these people have to be sent back." Justice Minister Marion Gentges (CDU) also recently criticized the blanket ban on deportations.

"What we can do for safety, we must do," she said.

Palmer received a shit storm for a Facebook post about the murder in Illerkirchberg

At the beginning of December last year, the Baden-Württemberg town of Illerkirchberg again came into the public eye because a 14-year-old girl was stabbed to death by a man on her way to school.

Boris Palmer also commented on this on Facebook and then received a shit storm because he was advertising his book in the process.

However, the mayor of Tübingen could not understand the headwind and, as announced, remains true to his style.
