For the first time since large numbers of refugees began arriving in 2014, the county is setting up tents to house asylum seekers.

Locations are in Maisach and Mammendorf.

Mammendorf/Maisach – The tents should each have space for 80 people.

According to the district office, they are thermally insulated and heated.

recreation facility

One of the two tents is expected to be set up on the caravan site of the leisure facility in Mammendorf from January 16th, according to the district authority.

The property belongs to the district office.

Mammendorf's Mayor Josef Heckl (FW) is not uncritical of the situation, as he said when asked.

The location is far off the beaten track.

However, the need for accommodation is great.

Heckl assumes that the tent as a "flying structure" should not be in place for longer than three months.

During the first major refugee movements a few years ago, there was a sometimes bitter dispute between the district office and Mammendorf.

At that time, the district authority wanted to set up containers on the site that would have affected the operation of the outdoor pool, Heckl recalls.

This time the planning is different - and Mammendorf can hardly say that you are not allowed to set up a tent on a campsite.

The relatively new sanitary facilities on the site could be an advantage.

use infrastructure

The second tent is being built in Maisach on Emmy-Noether-Straße in the immediate vicinity of the existing reception facility.

This has the advantage that the infrastructure could be shared, according to the district office.

Residents should provide their own food.

The rooms of the neighboring accommodation on Emmy-Noether-Straße are to be used for this purpose, and containers are being set up in Mammendorf.

Tents are “flying structures”, so that no formal building permit is usually required.

It is not yet clear how long the tents will be needed, according to the district office.

Almost 2,000 refugees (all countries of origin, including Ukraine) are currently accommodated in the district's decentralized accommodations.

For some time now, new refugees have been arriving in the district on a regular basis.

About 50 more Ukrainians are expected on January 11th.

Almost 1,000 people are currently accommodated in the anchor center at the air base.

District administrator Karmasin announced a long time ago that he no longer wanted to acquire gyms for refugee accommodation.
