Meetings of ministers – until last Thursday – meals for majority leaders – until breakfast this morning – there were many to prepare upstream for the pension reform.
But it is downstream, as of today, that the political management of this explosive site becomes decisive.
The possible agreement with LR is only one of the cogs in a chain whose solidity will inevitably be put to the test.
To succeed, you first need an offensive government pack.
The reform, wanted by Emmanuel Macron, is presented by Élisabeth Borne, carried by Olivier Dussopt, the Minister of Labor, and defended by the Bercy duo Bruno Le Maire and Gabriel Attal.
But because it has a symbolic force that goes beyond its accounting dimension, because it brings into play a large number of social forces, and because the battle will be difficult, pension reform cannot be left to ministers alone "themes".
