Voting on the Yosh Law, video: Knesset Channel (Maariv)
The Knesset plenum approved tonight (Tuesday) in first reading the emergency regulations in Judea and Samaria, which regulate the legal status of Israelis in the territories.
The regulations allow legislation and judgment to be applied to Israeli residents living in these areas as well as to Palestinians who have blue identity cards.
In the previous government, the approval of the regulations caused the first significant cracks in the coalition in light of the refusal of the Ram and Meretz parties to support its approval, as well as due to the position of the Likud and the other opposition factions, who tried to thwart the vote. With the dissolution of the Knesset, the validity of the regulations was automatically extended to three months from the beginning of the Knesset's term The 25th and now the plenary has approved in the first reading the extension of the regulations for another 5 years.

The chairman of the state camp Benny Gantz announced that his party would support the regulations and in contrast to Likud and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu - "In whatever position and wherever we are, we will work for the state and its security." In contrast, the Labor faction announced that it would vote against since these measures "damage Israel's security and will lead us to a binational state, according to the vision of Smotrich and his partners."
