The judicial authority in Iran today (Monday) sentenced three more protesters to death, despite the international criticism against the series of executions of opponents of the regime, the latest of which was on Saturday.

Today the sentence was handed down to three protesters who were convicted of the crimes of "war against God" following the murder of members of the Basij militia loyal to the regime in the city of Isfahan in the center of the country.

The three can still appeal the sentence.

Two more involved, including a football player, were sentenced to prison terms.

The Basij is leading the suppression of the demonstrations, which broke out following the death of the Kurdish young woman Mehsa Amini in the custody of the Mosar police on September 16.

She was arrested because she did not wear the hijab on her head as required, and the opposition to the Islamic dress code for women is at the center of the protests.

The protest, one of the largest the regime has faced since the Islamic revolution in 1979, has died down since the executions of some of the detainees began.

At least four of those who stopped the wave of protests were executed, and human rights organizations fear that dozens more may pay the price of resistance to the authorities.

Amnesty International said last month that Iranian authorities are seeking the death penalty for at least 26 other protesters as part of "show trials aimed at terrorizing the protesters."

According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency, a media outlet for opposition activists in Iran, at least 519 protesters and 68 security personnel were killed in the riots.

According to the agency, an additional 19,200 protesters were arrested and 111 of them are estimated to be "under imminent threat of the death penalty" after being convicted or charged with crimes that carry the death penalty.

During the night, dozens of people gathered outside a prison in the city of Karaj, in light of reports of the transfer of two death row inmates to solitary confinement.

They chanted slogans against the regime and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and the mother of one of them begged the authorities to spare his life.

The mother of 22-year-old Mohammad Govdalo, who was convicted of killing a police officer in Tehran, claimed that he suffers from bipolar disorder and told the protesters that 50 doctors had signed a petition calling on the head of the judiciary to establish a committee to examine his mental state.

"If he believes in God, he should answer to these 50 doctors," said the mother, who claimed that her son was sick.

In addition to that, she said that the policeman her son was convicted of his murder "fell somewhere else".

In the videos published by the account 1500tasvir_en, which is linked to the opposition, the protesters were heard chanting: "I will kill the one who killed my brother" and "This is a final warning. If you execute them, there will be an uprising."

In other videos allegedly recorded at the scene, gunshots were heard.
