One person died in a fire in Herrieden in central Franconia.
The cause of the fire in the clothing store is still unclear.
Herrieden – Tragic news from Middle Franconia: A fire broke out in a clothing store in Herrieden, Ansbach district.
The fire brigade is on site with a large contingent, and a rescue helicopter also landed in front of the shop.
One person was found lifeless.
According to an unconfirmed report, the victim is the CEO.
Fire in the Ansbach district: one person dead, background unclear
According to a police spokesman, witnesses had informed the emergency services that flames would erupt from a clothing store in Herrieden.
The fire brigade was immediately on site with a large contingent and found an unconscious person in the building.
When they brought the 48-year-old outside, they began resuscitation measures.
Despite all efforts, the man died on the spot.
It is currently unclear why the fire broke out in the office area of the store.
The police have not yet released any information about the extent of the damage.
Pictures from various news agencies also show that the emergency services are also on site with a helicopter.
Fire in a clothing store in Middle Franconia
According to the police, the heavy smoke from the fire in Herrieden also affected traffic on the nearby A6 motorway.
Nothing is currently known about further consequences of the fire in Middle Franconia.
Finally, the police say: "Officials from the responsible department of the Ansbach criminal police have started the investigation to clarify the cause of the fire on site."
