The plaster collapsed over an area of 30m2.
This is the observation made by the departmental operational center for fire and rescue (Codis) of Loire-Atlantique after an intervention, Sunday shortly after 9:30 a.m., in the church of Herbignac, a town located on the border of Morbihan.
According to firefighters, the damage was the result of water infiltration.

Faced with this threat, they decided to carry out a further inspection of the degraded coating.
"After recognition, the masonry wall shows no cracks"
, indicates the Codis.
New dreaded plaster drops
Despite this, they decided to establish a security perimeter inside the church
“given the risk of falling new wall elements (plaster) over approximately 50m2”
.
During their intervention, the emergency services also proceeded to the preservation of a work of art - a statue - threatened by the potential fall of plaster.

The intervention in the Herbignac church mobilized eight firefighters.
They were accompanied on the spot by the first deputy of the commune who was on duty as well as technical services.
