Special for Walla! Local Eli Shabiru, Mayor of Ariel - "What is expected of a full right-wing government that sees the Judea and Samaria region as an integral part of Israel, recognized Ariel as a university city

My fellow ministers - the capital of Samaria is waiting only for you!

These days the 25th Knesset is taking office and a government with new (old) ministers is starting.

First, I send a blessing of success to all the members of the Knesset, from me and the residents of the city of Ariel, because the bottom line is that it is important to remember that your success - our success!

As a resident of Ariel and as someone who has been at its head for over 10 years, I was privileged to see the accelerated development of my city to the status of a district city.

The city of Ariel has developed and strengthened while maintaining its unique character that reflects in a small way the whole of Israel: secular and religious, right-wing and left-wing, veterans and new immigrants - all live together in a growing and developing community that currently has about 21,000 residents.

The city has two social and economic anchors: the Ariel West industrial area, which is a magnet for the top industrialists in the country, and Ariel University, which is one of the most significant employers in the city and currently has about 17,000 students studying there.

The city is built on only about a quarter of its area.

In the south, a new neighborhood is in advanced construction procedures, and to the west we are starting the infrastructure works on two new neighborhoods, which will create an important and essential sequence for the Ariel West industrial area.

It's beautiful but not enough!

The city has construction reserves that we must promote and this depends on only one thing - on you, dear members of the government!

Ariel University has established itself in recent years as an institution with an impressive variety of departments, with an impressive increase in the number of students in Israel.

Thanks to the university, the city has a unique situation that has no other in the country - the number of residents and the number of students are getting closer to each other!

This requires a quick implementation of section 44 of the government's basic guidelines, which states that "following the government's decisions regarding Ariel University in Samaria (Government Resolution No. 3579 of May 2, 2005 and Government Resolution No. 5098 of September 9, 2012)... Ariel University in the fields of research and teaching ... and promoting the government's decision to turn the city of Ariel into a university city", this will lead to the improvement and acceleration of the promotion of: education, employment, culture, sports and leisure, housing, infrastructure and of course health services.

These days the construction of a university medical center is being completed, which will provide a service that includes ambulatory treatments, MRI and CT examinations and day hospitalizations for both Israelis and Palestinians.

As of today, the residents of Ariel and the surrounding area who require professional medical care, from birth to life-saving treatments, are forced to lose valuable time traveling (and in traffic jams) in order to receive treatment, unfortunately sometimes this comes at a high price, therefore turning the medical center into a university hospital is the order of the hour!

It is also important to raise the issue of transportation infrastructure to and from the city.

The city currently has only two central axes that connect it on the one hand to the greater Tel Aviv area (Route 5) and on the other hand to the greater Jerusalem area (Route 60).

Every Yosh resident who today goes towards Greater Tel Aviv is well aware of the traffic jam that can sometimes stretch for kilometers, caused among other things by the Shumron Gate barrier, but also by the incompatibility between the size of the axis and the amount of traffic moving along it. The solution is found in one place and that is the establishment of A train line (heavy / light) that will reach the city of Ariel with stations that will serve all the settlements on route 5. The

establishment of the train will also help solve other issues such as: the student residences, urban parking around the university and in general will allow easy and safe access for students, job seekers (in and from Ariel), Travelers and more.

Unfortunately, it is too short to cover the additional needs that arise naturally from a growing city like Ariel, but to sum things up, what is expected of you as a full right-wing government that sees the Judea and Samaria region as an integral part of Greater Israel and its residents as citizens of Israel with equal rights, and recognizes the city of Ariel as a district city and the capital of Samaria, is to promote the important points:

1.Recognition and declaration of the city of Ariel as a university city as requested in section 44 of the government's fundamental deficiencies

2.Assistance in the promotion and development of the Ariel West industrial zone

3.Declaration of the medical center at Ariel University as a university hospital

4.Establishment of a railway line (heavy / light ) to the city of Ariel.

5. Approving and promoting building permits to promote the master plan of the city of Ariel

so that things are in your hands, I am all hope that in 4 years when the term of the current Knesset ends, among the great achievements you will present will be the points presented above.
