At the benefit concert "Between the Years" the audience and participants enjoy the evening in the "Holzwirt" in Ascholding.

Ascholding – Relive the Christmas spirit and then let it fade away, prepare the new year for a lively start: With suitable songs and pieces of music, singers and musicians created a rich program on Saturday on the benefit evening “Between the Years” in the fully occupied Holzwirtssaal in Ascholding.

The event has a long tradition: until his death, Georg Kapfer from Wolfratshausen organized the folk music rendezvous for 30 years as part of the annual local newspaper Christmas campaign “Readers help help”.

And after the Corona break in 2021 and a corona-related date shift from January to May 2022, it has now returned to its original place in the course of the year.

The joy of being able to come together again was evident in the auditorium and on stage alike: the audience enjoyed what the participants offered after the long break with newly ignited musical passion.

Guided through the program with humor: speaker Siegi Götze.

The fact that the proceeds from the concert also go to a good cause made it all the better.

Right at the beginning of the evening, Veronika Ahn-Tauchnitz, Editor-in-Chief of the Tölzer Kurier, expressed her gratitude to the local newspapers Tölzer Kurier and Isar-Loisachbote/Geretsrieder Merkur for the citizens' enormous willingness to donate even in the current difficult times.

The free performances of the music and singing groups in the "Holzwirt" also deserved great praise.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Wolfratshausen-Geretsried newsletter.

Benefit evening "Between the Years": Baiernrainer singers can be heard for the first time as a four-part song

It was no problem for spokesman Siegi Götze to build on this: in addition to his commitment to the great treasure of Bavarian culture, the man from Marquartstein worked full-time for a long time as head of the citizens' help center and officer for the disabled in the Traunstein district office.

Whether he would come to Ascholding was questionable until late Saturday afternoon after a fall the previous evening.

But he came and with his contributions created the connecting atmosphere between songs and melodies, between musicians and listeners.

With the solemn tune "Still o Himmel, still o Erden" the district office dance music in wind instrumentation kicked off the first and "post-Christmas" part of the program.

The Baiernrainer singers, previously known as Dreigesang, were heard for the first time as a powerful four-voice song and, like the women's Dreigesang Ossiander-Darchinger, in their song lyrics led the audience back to the shepherds in Bethlehem who wanted to visit the newborn child.

Alternately cheerful and then again fresh and happy, the instrumental pieces interspersed them, which, in addition to the contemplative character of the Christmas season, traced its joyful experience.

They were all able to play finely and delicately and to "top it up" in the right place with strength and temperament, whether it was the corner seat Zithermusi with three zithers and contraguitar, the guitar trio Ossiander-Darchinger ("guitar trios unfortunately only rarely exist today", like Götze explained), or the Schodseitn Musi from Jachenau with ziach, dulcimer, guitar and double bass.

The song accompaniment was in the best hands with zither player Sepp Denk, harp player Heidi Gantner or – in an unusual way – with recorders and guitar from the Trio Ossiander-Darchinger.

The visitors also liked the young Jasbergler wind instruments, which have only existed as a quartet for about six months.

It was Mucksmäuserlstaad in the second part as well, which Götze made a hearty Hoagascht with mischievous stories, harmoniously embedded in the varied repertoire of the musical actors.

The finale was a song sung together with the audience: "The fishermen's choirs can easily join me," judged Götze.

And then the district office dance music continued to play happily.
