“My deputy was there, it's the first time in his life that he's seen this!
Commander of the Gendarmerie company in Melun, Squadron Leader Lebland can't believe it either.
On Friday January 6, a 20-year-old man was stopped while driving a car bought the same day, a few hours after passing his driving test.
The same morning, so obviously without having received the result of his practical test.
For several years, the driver's license inspector no longer communicates the result orally to the candidate.
From now on, the latter must consult his result online on the Road Safety site after a period of 48 hours.
If the result is favorable, the candidate must upload a driving license examination certificate which serves as his driving license for 4 months.
In fact, last Friday, this young man passed his test around 8:30 in the morning.
He comes out of it apparently satisfied with himself and confident enough to buy a Seat brand car on the same day.
A transfer certificate attests that he signed the deed of purchase that same Friday at 12:40 p.m.
“Anyone can buy a car or even a truck without showing their driver's license to the seller.
Only the insurance companies ask for it,” explains Squadron Leader Lebland.
“There is a refusal to comply when the gendarmes signal to a driver to stop”
So far, nothing illegal.
Except that the young man takes the wheel of his vehicle.
And forward!
He drives around even though he hasn't yet received the result of his driving license in the morning!
This episode of improvised freedom ends around 4 p.m. at Châtelet-en-Brie where gendarmes are posted after a red light for a control operation.
Seeing them, the young driver immediately turns around.
A sudden movement which obviously puts the chip in the ear of the soldiers.
He is caught.
And the rose pot uncovered.
The offender who already has a job in professional life gives them no explanation for this reckless risk-taking.
He got away with two fixed tort fines, one for lack of driver's license and the other for lack of insurance.
That's a total of a thousand euros before even starting his real life as a driver.
The hit-and-run was dismissed.
“We didn't want to push it any further,” explains squadron leader Lebland.
“In any case, there is a refusal to comply when the gendarmes signal to a driver to stop.
There, that was not the case.
