The first leak of 2023: A short video leaked online on the ResetEra forums reveals a very early version of a new, yet-to-be-announced exclusive Sony game, and it looks to be a third-person sci-fi action game.

The leaker, who goes by the nickname DuskGolem, claims that this new title is being developed in the Unreal 5 engine by XDEV, a Liverpool-based developer that is considered part of Sony's exclusive developer family, and is being assisted by an external studio in the development.

XDEV has helped and backed quite a few PlayStation development projects over the years, and in recent years you can find games like Returnal or Dreams in their resume.

Beyond this short video and the little information that exists in the forums, one can only guess Sony's direction until we get an official announcement.

There is a very likely chance that the game is part of Sony's strategy for the coming years, and its desire to invest in a market it has not focused on until now:

Game as Service style multiplayer games.

This is practically any network game these days: Fortnite, Call of Duty, Rocket League, Overwatch or any game that has frequent updates, and contains a digital store that sells items, skins and Battle Pass, and ensures a constant cash flow for the company.

For example, last year Sony acquired Bungie, the original developer of the Halo and Destiny games, and the two have already announced that they will develop a multiplayer title that will be owned by Sony.

Developers Guerilla Games and Naughty Dog, both owned by Sony, have also already announced that they are working on multiplayer titles for Horizon and The Last of Us.

Other areas that Sony will focus on in the future are mobile, which has stated that it will release new titles based on its exclusive brands for cell phones.

Of course, we cannot forget the PC market, where Sony also started to invest and release its titles for PC gamers.
