The Peitinger adult education center starts the spring semester with a hot off the press programme.

Strict corona rules are finally a thing of the past, but the pandemic has left its mark.

Peiting - "Z(S)eiten für Dein Balance" is the title of the new joint program booklet of the adult education centers in Schongau and Peiting.

The focus of the spring semester, this time it is on offers related to health.

Practicing the right balance has also been part of the daily work of VHS director Sabine Hickisch and her deputy Andrea Deibler for the past two years.

Finally, the corona pandemic and the constantly changing regulations presented the facility with major challenges.

Strict mask and distance rules no longer apply to the new spring and summer program, but the time of restrictions has left its mark.

The offers in the magazine are no longer as extensive as they were before Corona, says Hickisch.

The number of lecturers has shrunk from over 60 to 50.

This has created a gap, especially in the popular language courses, and it is difficult to find new course instructors.

"We can offer the basic courses, but of course we would like to have a larger selection of offers",

Spring semester 2023 at the VHS Peiting: More computer courses

The five adult education centers in Pfaffenwinkel are all the more committed to cooperation.

Selected offers from partner institutions can be found in the magazine.

This includes a visit to the Erbenschwang waste disposal plant or an excursion to the Murnauer Moos.

For a year now, it has also been able to call itself a recognized base for consumer education, which has also expanded the range of courses.

In lectures, for example, experts explain the opportunities and risks of digital banking offers or the stock market, partly on site, partly online.

The fact that many offers could only take place virtually during the pandemic and thus digitalization was promoted is now proving to be an advantage.

For years, as a small adult education center, there were hardly any computer courses in the program, says Hickisch.

Now the basics of image processing are taught in an online course or the possibilities of the social network Instagram are examined.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.)

Creative, sports and cooking classes

Of course, not everything can be mapped so easily in the digital world.

Pottery and goldsmith courses, but also painting with acrylic paints or the golf taster course work best in person.

The same applies to the numerous dance courses.

Hickisch is happy to offer social dances for the elderly again for the first time.

Because of Corona, the offer had to be abandoned.

There are also no restrictions for the courses on the subject of health, which have traditionally been very popular.

Whether it's Hatha yoga, progressive muscle relaxation or Qi Gong: if you want to relax your body and mind, you've come to the right place, the VHS director knows.

They are just as much a part of the well-established offers as the cooking courses, whose teachers have again come up with all sorts of ideas in the new program.

For example, Lea Graf provides insights into the world of fermentation, while Silvia Schlögel shows how to enjoy food cheaply with a clear conscience.

And those who want to finally learn how to play Schafkopf properly are in the right place at the VHS this year.

Peiting's second mayor, Gunnar Prielmeier, is introducing beginners to the popular card game for the first time in his new course.
