Syria condemned in the strongest terms the acts of violence perpetrated by subversive groups against the headquarters of Congress, the presidency and the Supreme Court in Brazil, and affirmed its solidarity with the elected government led by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on its Twitter account: “Syria condemns in the strongest terms the acts of violence committed by subversive groups against the headquarters of the Congress, the presidency and the Supreme Court in Brazil, and supports the steps and measures taken by President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to put an end to these acts, which are in contradiction to one another.” Completely with the values ​​of democracy, respecting the will of the Brazilian people.

The ministry added: Syria calls for respecting the will of the Brazilian people under the leadership of President Lula, and affirms its solidarity with the elected government in Brazil.

Yesterday, supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro stormed the Congress building, the Supreme Court and the presidential palace, and damaged them, while President Lula declared a temporary state of emergency, and asked federal forces to restore security and order.
