The agents of the military police of the Federal District (Brasilia) and of the National Security Force of Brazil have practically completely evicted the camp of supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro set up in front of the army headquarters shortly after the presidential elections, won by Lula da Silva.

The Army spokesman, Colonel Marcos Andrpe Benzecry, says that "between 1,200 and 1,400 people have been removed in the last few hours," reports our comrade

Joan Royo Gual

from the scene.

The Bolsonaristas were not detained, but rather taken to a place where they are being identified and reviewed.

"That is where the investigation begins to see if they have something to do with yesterday's acts of vandalism," says the Army spokesman.

Some 500 meters from the place, the police block the entrance to the Army headquarters.

It now remains to lift the remains of the encampment.

After the assault on Sunday by supporters of the far-right ex-president to the headquarters of the Brazilian Presidency (Executive Power), the Congress (Legislative) and the Supreme Court (Judicial), the Supreme Court magistrate Alexandre Moreas ordered the dismantling of this camp, and other mounted in front of other barracks in other Brazilian cities, in less than 24 hours, as well as the arrest of the campers.

Police surround the camp of the Bolsonaristas in front of the army headquarters in Brasilia

The police are concentrating next to the camp that followers of former President Jair Bolsonaro have maintained in front of the Brazilian Army headquarters in Brasilia since shortly after the October presidential elections that gave victory to Lula da Silva.

Late on Sunday, the Supreme Court magistrate, Alexandre de Moraes, ordered the dismantling of these camps within 24 hours and the detention of the campers.

Hundreds of policemen have gathered around the camp while the soldiers who were guarding the area have withdrawn, witnesses present in the area have reported to Reuters.

The camp, like the others distributed in other parts of the country, was intended to pressure the army to intervene and restore Bolsonaro to power, despite the defeat suffered by the former president in the October presidential elections.

Although the uniformed men have not lent themselves to the coup, they have allowed the campers to remain in front of their doors for weeks.

While the police took up positions around the camp, many of the campers have begun to pack up their things and leave, for fear of being arrested.

Last night, magistrate Moraes warned that the forces of order would arrest all the encamped Bolsonaristas.

He warned that they would review security cameras, hotel reservations and the hiring of the buses that brought hundreds of protesters to Brasilia to identify all the participants.

Some campers feared that the dismantling of that camp would be ordered, as verified by Joan Royo, special envoy of EL PAÍS to Brasilia.

And, according to some Brazilian media, such as the CNN television network, with good reason.

As reported by the American chain, the minister [president] of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, has decided to evict all the Bolsonaro camps within 24 hours, as well as the detention of the campers.

The dismantling will be carried out by the military police of each state with the support of the National Force and the Federal police if necessary.

However, the STF Twitter account does not report any decision in this regard.

According to the Brazilian newspaper

O Globo

, "the army and the military police of the federal district (Brasilia) are going to begin this Monday the withdrawal of the protesters who are still camped in front of the headquarters in Brasilia."

O Globo

reports on a meeting late Sunday night in which the Defense Ministers, José Múcio;

Justicia, Flávio Dino and Casa Civil, Rui Costa, together with the Army Commander, Júlio César Arruda and in which, supposedly, the "details of the operation" of eviction, which will take place this Monday, were discussed.

Albares calls for "reflection" in the face of the anti-democratic acts of the extreme right

The Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Alberes, has condemned this Monday the assault on the headquarters of the three State powers in Brazil and has called for a "reflection" to be carried out on the actions of the extreme right to question the electoral results .

The minister highlighted the "immense wave of solidarity" with Brazil that has emerged in Latin America and around the world after Sunday's events, but has also highlighted the need to "confront the lies" spread by extreme groups right.

Asked in an interview on Cadena SER how to combat this far-right chain that begins with the dissemination of false news and the questioning of the electoral results and ends in acts like those experienced in the Capitol two years ago or in Brasilia, Albares has acknowledged that "no one has the magic formula", but that it is necessary "to confront the lie, locate the facts and reveal those who insidiously try to sow doubts about electoral results or, what is worse, those who, accepting the results, They say that there are legitimate and illegitimate leaders.”

"That is the residue of the ultra-right," he concluded, warning that events like the one on Sunday "presage these movements will not disappear easily."

This tendency of the ultra-right to question the results "is spreading and should lead to reflection", said the minister, assuring that the Government of Spain "will defend democracy in Brazil and throughout the world" and "will spare no effort" in that sense.

"Spain needs a democratic Brazil, back on the international scene, in a year in which we have the presidency of the European Council [in the second half of the year]. Finally, asked about the reaction of the national spokesperson of the Popular Party, Cuca Gamarra, criticizing the elimination of the crime of sedition, Albares has said that, as minister, he was very concerned "that the first opposition party in Spain, in its first reaction, does not say anything in support of democracy or in rejection of the extreme right in Brazil.

"This shows that the PP has nothing to say in international politics," he said.

"As a citizen," he stated, "it is unfortunate that attempts are made to question the legitimacy of a president."
