The Supreme Committee for the Transformation to Modern Irrigation, during its meeting today headed by Eng. Hussein Arnous, Prime Minister, approved a set of procedures and decisions necessary to facilitate and accelerate the steps of transition to the use of modern irrigation techniques and networks, and to increase irrigated agricultural areas, in a way that supports the agricultural process, increases productivity, and contributes to rationalizing the use of resources. hydro.

The decisions included simplifying the procedures for granting loans to farmers with the aim of switching to modern irrigation, by adopting the guarantee of the Peasants Union in the absence of a real estate guarantee, opening the ceiling for lending from the Agricultural Bank for these projects, and providing the necessary support to laboratories specialized in manufacturing modern irrigation requirements according to the required specifications, quality and quality. And provide it with its allocations of diesel at the subsidized price.

The Supreme Committee for the Conversion to Modern Irrigation also decided to grant the owners of irrigated lands through pressurized government irrigation networks a period of 6 months to install networks for the conversion to modern irrigation, and non-pressurized networks a period of one year to convert to modern irrigation, with encouraging incentives for those who convert to modern irrigation.

Engineer Arnous stressed the importance of taking all measures that ensure the transition to modern irrigation in government irrigation projects according to a plan and executive programs and translating them into real and tangible data on the ground with the aim of preserving every drop of water in light of climate changes and the decrease in the amount of precipitation, stressing the need to complete the installation of networks Modern irrigation in the southern plains of Aleppo in cooperation with the Peasants Union.

The committee discussed the work plan of the National Project Fund for the conversion to modern irrigation for the current year, which amounts to 1,700 hectares, and the requirements for developing the work of the fund and applying the mandatory conversion to modern irrigation for 50 percent of the annual plan in each region.
