The Ministry of the Interior said in a statement today: A fire broke out this morning in a room within the tenth housing unit in the university residence in Aleppo, and immediately patrols from the Shahba Police Department and the Aleppo Fire Brigade headed to the place, and the fire was extinguished.
The ministry indicated that the fire resulted in material damage and the injury of 13 female students, including cases of suffocation and bruises due to the stampede of female students during the evacuation of the ward. They were taken to Aleppo University Hospital and discharged after receiving the necessary treatment.
The ministry pointed out that the preliminary investigation conducted by the Al-Shahba Police Department found that the cause of the fire was an electric short circuit in the room, and investigations are still ongoing.
