A new American study tries to estimate where the People's Republic's takeover of the neighboring island will lead • While it seems that the Chinese army is expected to suffer thousands of casualties, the US army and the Japanese army are also expected to be significantly damaged • Will the occupation of the island succeed? Not at all certain

The strongest power in the world?

A new study estimates that thousands will die in a Chinese invasion of the island of Taiwan.

However, it is not at all certain that Beijing will have the upper hand at the end of the conflict.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CISI), an American research institute headquartered in Washington, DC, conducted "war games" to predict future scenarios of China's invasion of Taiwan.

From the analysis it emerged that in an invasion scenario, Taiwan would be able to exact a heavy price from the People's Republic's army.

The American and Japanese military are also going to be badly damaged.

In addition to the severe losses estimated at thousands of soldiers, according to the study of a hypothetical war in 2026, the researchers believe that Beijing will not succeed in inflicting a defeat on the Taiwanese army and that at least two American aircraft carriers will be sunk to the bottom of the sea until the end of the conflict.

"The USA and Japan are losing dozens of ships, hundreds of planes and thousands of service personnel.

Such losses will harm the US's global standing for many years," said the report, a copy of which was obtained by CNN.

"China will also suffer greatly. Its navy will be broken, the core of its amphibious forces will be broken, and tens of thousands of soldiers will be prisoners of war," detailed the study, which estimates that the Chinese army will suffer about 10,000 casualties and lose 155 fighter planes and 138 large ships.

Regarding Taiwan, the report claims that even if the military is not broken, the island will remain in a post-war state without electricity and basic services, as well as with a devastated economy.

In the meantime, the Taipei authorities this morning (Monday) condemned the exercises that China recently conducted near its border, with an explicit threat that included 57 fighter jets.
