Elbit Systems and the Ministry of Defense agreed on the expansion of the mission training center's activities • The meaning: reduction of the expensive flight hours carried out in the air

The Ministry of Defense agreed today (Tuesday) with the Elbit Systems Company on the expansion of the training center for the fighter pilots of the Air Force.

The value of the deal is estimated at about 400 million shekels, but the expansion of training at the center may lead to savings of hundreds of millions of shekels.

This is a mission training center (MTL) that exists at the Hazor base and contains trainers for the F15 and F16 aircraft.

The new trainer center, which will be an infrastructure for receiving future platforms of the Corps, will allow doubling the amount of flight hours performed in trainers, while reducing expensive flight hours performed in the air. In the future, the center will also enable connectivity for the training of the ground forces, as well as for additional trainers in the Air Force.

Today, the flight simulator is a central pillar of the pilots' competence and provides a high level of training and an optimal image for the flight experience, through advanced display systems, which allow a wide range of flight situations, from a basic familiarization with the aircraft, through an image of emergency situations to preparation for operational scenarios and missions.

The Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Brigadier General Eyal Greenboim, explains that "the Air Force continues to develop and strengthen its competence in the face of the challenges of the future.

As part of the renewal, the center for the simulated mission training of the battle array will be expanded.

This is in order to strengthen the competence of air crew fighters and the competence of the Air Force as a whole, and at the same time to bring about economic efficiency."

The CEO of Elbit Aircraft Systems, Yoram Shmueli, concluded that "Elbit Systems appreciates the strong partnership with the Ministry of Defense and the IDF and the full trust it receives. Armies around the world are redesigning their training capabilities while striving to improve operational readiness at the same time as streamlining. Winning this contract emphasizes the positioning of Elbit Systems as a leading company in the field of advanced training."
