Three pastors were said goodbye in Wolfratshausen: deacon Christian Horak, pastoral officer Gabriele Seidnader and chaplain Jaime-Pasqual Hannig.

Wolfratshausen - The tenor was clear: "Actually, we don't want you to go.

We will miss you.” Chaplain Jaime-Pasqual Hannig, pastoral officer Gabriele Seidnader and deacon Christian Horak bid farewell in the parish home of St. Josef der Arbeiter with a service followed by a celebration, with great sympathy from parishioners and representatives of various institutions.

The reason for the departure of the trio is the new appointment plan for full-time pastors.

The church wants to make up for the dwindling human resources.

All three started new assignments at the beginning of the year.

Hannig was transferred as parish vicar to the Munich-Westend parish association with four churches.

Seidnader takes over the pastoral care for the sick in the northern district, based at the district clinic.

Horak changes to the pastoral care of the elderly based in Haus Elisabeth in Geretsried.

"They're leaving," said city pastor Gerhard Beham.

“But the distance is subjective.

The longest journey is the inward journey. When you let go of the old to tackle the new.” However, you are not alone: God is already there.

The fact that the three pastors left large gaps was expressed in each of the speeches.

Regardless of whether it was during the preparation for confirmation, retreats, church services, children's Bible days or during the pandemic: "Together we have sometimes broken new ground.

You have met the demands and seized opportunities,” agreed Beham, parish council members Barbara Holthaus, Astrid Leinhas-Grosch, Sissy Mayrhofer and Thomas Erhard, chairman of the Waldram Kolping Family.

"You gave impetus to stay together as a congregation and city church."

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Wolfratshausen-Geretsried newsletter.

The Protestant pastor Elke Eilert, who came to say goodbye with her colleague Florian Gruber, emphasized the good cooperation between the pastors.

"I associate a lot of good memories with it, and I actually hoped that it would stay that way until I retired."

Hannig also said goodbye with a song.

He rewrote Rupert Holmes' Pina Colada song.

"The first chaplain position that you never forget" was the first line, only to later merge into the chorus with the words "Stadtkirche Wolfratshausen, you dream in the foothills of the Alps, between Isar and Loisach, yes, all sorts of things are happening there...".

After the official farewell, the guests took the opportunity to personally shake hands with "their" three pastors, and a few tears flowed.
