Despite the wounds and injuries suffered by the wounded homeland “Farhan Hamdan” during the performance of his patriotic duty in the reserve service in the Syrian Arab Army, Hamdan continued the path of his knowledge, which he aspired to, to reach today the pleading for a doctoral degree in the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering at Al-Baath University in Homs.

Hamdan said in a statement to SANA reporter: I was shot in the head during my compulsory service, which hindered me and delayed my obtaining a master's thesis, but my ambition was greater than my injury, and as soon as I passed the injury stage, I regained my strength and continued what I had started with and obtained a master's thesis, and today I pleaded in a thesis Ph.D., pointing to what the Jarih Watan project provided to him in terms of assistance in reaching the day of success and obtaining a Ph.D.

Hamdan referred to the great role played by Al-Baath University in hosting the Jarih Watan project and providing the services and requirements needed by students and researchers. He pointed out that his doctoral dissertation was in the field crops department entitled “Response of some morphophysiological, productive and specific characteristics of yellow corn cultivar to food spaces and treatment with amino acids under conditions Water stress” and that the aim of the research is to study the effect of nutritional space and treatment with amino acids on some morphophysiological, productive and specific characteristics of yellow corn cultivar, choose the optimal agricultural distance, the best concentration for spraying with amino acids, determine the growth stage that is most tolerant of water stress and study the economic feasibility of cultivating yellow corn by applying the treatments studied.

Dr. Abd al-Basit al-Khatib, President of Al-Baath University, stressed in a speech during the pleading the importance of scientific research and the necessity of stimulating it and linking it to the problems of society and finding innovative scientific solutions, pointing to the university's pride in the wounded of the homeland whose injury did not prevent them from looking forward to a better future, which they are moving towards at a steady pace, especially in these circumstances. Which requires concerted efforts to build a coexistent society in which all citizens of the country participate in building it.

In turn, Dr. Muhammad Al-Masri, Dean of the College of Agriculture, said that the wounded student Hamdan is the first student from the Jarih Watan project to discuss his doctoral dissertation in agricultural engineering. Provide all that is necessary for those wounded who gave their blood and part of their organs so that the homeland remains Syria.

The judging and discussion committee consisted of Drs. Ahmed Muhanna as supervisor and chair, Fadi Abbas as co-supervisor, who is also Jarih Watan from the Scientific Research Authority in Homs, Mahmoud Al-Shabak as a member, Hussein Al-Mahasneh as a member, Youssef Nimr as a member, and Thana Dabu as a member, where Hamdan obtained the degree of excellence.
