The District Military Court today (Tuesday) sentenced Major Aviv Songo to five and a half years in prison for raping an officer who served with him.
He was convicted of three counts of indecent assault and one count of inappropriate behavior.
In addition to the actual prison sentence, the defendant was sentenced to a suspended prison sentence and demoted to the rank of private, and it was determined that he will pay compensation in the amount of NIS 40,000 to the officer who brutally raped him.

The accused pleaded not guilty, and an evidentiary procedure was conducted in his case, at the end of which he was convicted of committing the crimes.
The IDF stated: "We take seriously any harm on a sexual basis and work to bring justice against every soldier and permanent servant who are involved in these offenses."
