To the sound of protests in the plenum, the Ben Gabir law passed in the first reading (Knesset Channel)
Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir yesterday (Monday) called on the police not to discriminate favorably against the demonstrators against the legal reform of the Minister of Simplification Yariv Levin.
At the beginning of the Yeshiva of the Otzma Yehudit faction, Ben Gabir said that the police should treat the demonstrators exactly as the organization treats the right-wing demonstrators.
He condemned the signs placed at the demonstration against Levin, which included his image next to the symbol of the Nazi SS unit.
"Speaking of lawbreakers, I will refer in one more sentence to what we saw in Tel Aviv, in the demonstration. I am in favor of demonstrations, in favor of freedom of expression, but we also saw a serious damage to democracy, incitement against minister Yariv Levin, blocking roads," he said.
"I told the command staff of the police, I am in favor of demonstrations, but those who block a road and those who riot, should be arrested and a demonstration in Tel Aviv is judged as a demonstration in Jerusalem, a demonstration of the left is judged as a demonstration of the right," the minister added.
"These are my demands from the Israel Police, to act on the subject of the demonstrations in an equitable manner."
"Freedom of expression yes, signs yes, but freedom of expression is not the freedom of censorship. Freedom of expression is not a magic word that opens every gate, so my demand from the police on this issue as well, is to treat the demonstrations in an equal way. There are many more things, there are many more demands and they will be published Going forward".
