So far, CNN has not been able to confirm with authorities how many people have died in total during this period.
The Ombudsman's Office reported in a statement at noon that the total was 29, but it is not clear whether or not it already included the deaths in Puno.
Earlier, the president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, referred to the situation in Puno, and indicated that she also had reports of injured police officers.

“Brothers from Puno, brothers where they are still rising up in protest… of what?
It is not clear what they are asking for.
I have already explained to you that the four political points are not in my hands;
The only thing that was in my power was the early elections and we already proposed it, and it is already there in Congress for a second vote.
But then what you are asking for is a pretext to continue generating chaos in the cities, ”said Boluarte during the meeting he held with the members of the National Agreement (AN) forum.
CNN's Andy Ortiz contributed to this report.
