(CNN) --
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who is hospitalized in Florida, told CNN Brazil on Monday night that he intends to return to the Latin American country.
Bolsonaro, who traveled to Florida two days before Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's inauguration, was admitted to an Orlando-area hospital Sunday night due to abdominal discomfort related to injuries from a knife attack in 2018 and said he will be in the hospital "for the next few days."

"This is my third hospitalization for a severe intestinal obstruction. I came to spend some time outside with the family. But I did not have calm days. First there was this unfortunate episode yesterday [Sunday] in Brazil and then my admission to the hospital," he told CNN Brasil in reference to the invasion of buildings of the Brazilian federal government by its supporters.
"I came [to the United States] to stay until the end of the month [January], but I intend to return earlier. Because in Brazil the doctors already know about my problem of intestinal obstruction due to the stab wound. Here, the doctors did not accompany me," Bolsonaro said.
