Constantine II, the last king of Greece, has died at the age of 82, affiliate CNN Greece reported Tuesday.
According to the publication, the former monarch had serious health problems in recent months and recently contracted the coronavirus for a second time, which "appears to have significantly worsened his condition."
"Indeed, this was the second case of coronavirus, having tested positive for the first time in January 2022," CNN Greece reported.
Constantine II had also been hospitalized with pneumonia in December 2021, the affiliate said.
Constantine II's grandfather, Constantine I, died almost exactly a century ago, on January 11, 1923.
