Mong Kok Police District Special Duty Team, Licensing Team, Uniform Patrol Team, Criminal Investigation Team, West Kowloon Regional Mobile Force, Immigration Department and Home Affairs Department personnel launched a cross-departmental anti-illegal immigration and Illegal labor operations, yesterday (10th) raided and inspected multiple locations in Mong Kok District.
During the operation, officers arrested a total of 10 people, including 1 local man, 2 mainland women, 5 non-Chinese women and 2 foreign women, aged between 26 and 39. All of them are being detained for investigation, and some of those arrested will be handed over to the Immigration Department for follow-up.
The police stated that the Mongkok Police District has been actively combating related crimes, and has cooperated with relevant departments and stakeholders to collect intelligence and conduct surprise or joint operations in different locations.
According to the "Immigration Ordinance" Chapter 115 of the Laws of Hong Kong, any person who violates the conditions of stay valid for him commits an offense and is liable to a fine of HK$50,000 and imprisonment for two years upon conviction.
All travelers are not allowed to engage in any employment, whether paid or not, without the approval of the Director of Immigration.
Violators will be prosecuted. Once convicted, the maximum penalty is a fine of $50,000 and imprisonment for 2 years. Both aiding and abetting will be prosecuted.
