The Russian army managed to capture most of the territory of the city of Soldar during an assessment of the front in the Donetsk region in the east of the country • A Ukrainian colonel was killed in the heavy fighting

The Russian army this morning (Tuesday) controls most of the town of Soldar, located in the Donetsk region in the east of the country, after three days of intense fighting in which both sides suffered heavy losses and positions changed hands dozens of times.

In the report of the British intelligence services, it was stated that the Russian army most likely holds most of the eastern area of the city and has artillery control over the access roads to it, which places the rest of the Ukrainian forces located in the city in a serious problem.

During the weekend, Ukrainian military forces managed to repel the Russians from the salt mine areas north of the town and even set an ambush that claimed the lives of many Russian soldiers.

According to reports in the media in Ukraine, the Russian military is using the method of probing attacks designed to locate the weaknesses in the Ukrainian defense system, at a high price for the Russian attacking force.

According to military commentators on the Russian military Telegram channels, the Russian army attacks first using new recruits and prisoners from the Wagner mercenary group, who risk their lives in front of the Ukrainian positions in order to identify weaknesses in the defense system.

After that, professional forces of paratroopers or the Wagner force arrive and take advantage of the weaknesses in the defense system in order to create a breakthrough, using artillery.

Ukrainian journalist Elia Ponomarenko reported that during the bloody battles, a senior Ukrainian officer with the rank of colonel named Yury Yurchenko was killed.

"Currently, a particularly tough battle is taking place in the city as the Russian army throws in a huge force in order to capture what is left of Soldar," the Ukrainian journalist wrote.

In the shadow of the heavy fighting in the east of the country, the United States continues to transfer advanced combat equipment to Ukraine.

During the night, the American news site "Politico" published that the White House is considering transferring all Stryker type armored combat vehicles to Kyiv.

This is a relatively modern armored vehicle, whose production began in the early 2000s, with a high cross-country ability and the ability to carry up to eight fighters.

Last week, the White House announced that it would transfer 59 "Bradley" heavy armored vehicles to the Ukrainian army, along with self-propelled guns and additional amphibious vehicles, as part of a military aid package worth 3 billion dollars. France also announced that it intends to send light tanks to Kyiv. The new weapons in Ukraine's hands come amid fears of another Russian attack on Doula, after intelligence sources claimed that the Russian army had assembled a force of 200,000 fighters to carry out another attack in the country.
