Two individuals were indicted for murder in mid-December in Nantes, before being imprisoned for a case dating back to 2019. Four years ago, on the night of January 2 to 3, two homeless people were found dead in the fire in a disused hangar, located in Blain, 40km north of Nantes.
An investigation, opened by the Saint-Nazaire prosecutor's office, concluded at the time that their death was linked to this fire of accidental origin.
In May 2020, the investigation was reopened at "
the request of the family of one of the victims
",
Nantes prosecutor Renaud Gaudeul told
Le Figaro , thus confirming information revealed by Ouest France.
Entrusted to the research brigade of the gendarmerie company of Châteaubriant, this reopening made it possible to "
recover additional information
".
In particular, it was discovered that the victims, aged 46 and 47, had injuries and that one of them had already lost his life when the building caught fire.

Homeless
In mid-December, this work therefore led to the arrest of two people identified as the alleged perpetrators.
Also homeless, these suspects who used to wander all over France, have been indicted for murder, confirms the Nantes prosecutor's office.
The two accused, currently in pre-trial detention, "
reject each other's fault
", specifies the magistrate Renaud Gaudeul.
