Fisher-Price recalled Monday its 2019 recall announcement of the Rock 'n Play Sleepers, after at least eight infant deaths occurred following the product's initial recall, said the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

“On April 12, 2019, at the time the original recall was announced, more than 30 infant deaths in Rock 'n Play Sleepers were reported to have occurred after the Rock 'n Play Sleepers rolled onto their backs or sides. without being subject to or under other circumstances," the commission said in a statement.

"Since the recall, approximately 70 additional deaths have been reported, including at least 8 deaths reported to have occurred after the initial announcement of the recall."

"Approximately 100 deaths were reported while infants were in the products," the CPSC said.

"Fisher-Price notes that in some of the reports it has not been able to confirm the circumstances of the incidents or that the product was a Rock 'n Play Sleeper."

The CPSC stated that “consumers should stop using the Rock 'n Play immediately and contact Fisher-Price for a refund or coupon.

It is illegal to sell or distribute the recalled products."

The initial 2019 recall affected some 4.7 million devices.

Rock 'n Play Sleepers were sold at stores including Walmart, Target, and Amazon, from September 2009 through April 2019.

At the time of the initial recall, Chuck Scothon, Fisher-Price's general manager, said the company viewed the recall as the "best course of action" and would continue to defend the safety of all its products.
