What is a winter garden?
It is a closed vegetated room, an extension of the house.
Most of the time it is made of glass, with metal or wooden frames to be more natural and to have more light (by favoring a south-east, south-west or east-west orientation) and above all a view on the outside while staying warm on the inside.
A kind of in-between, which extends the living room, the dining room or sometimes the kitchen.
It can be a veranda, a patio, a canopy, depending on the layout of the rooms in relation to the garden.
It can also be a corner with a large bay window.
An immersion, a haven of peace to relax even when it's cold outside.
It's about creating an inside outside while continuing to enjoy the benefits of an indoor garden, with a minimum temperature of 15°C during the day and 12°C at night.

How to make a winter garden at home?
The watchwords are cozy, comfortable, relaxing.
Priority will therefore be given to furniture made of natural materials and in tones that are both soft and warm, often white, beige or wood-coloured, in materials such as wicker.
For more authenticity and proximity to the environment, a sofa-armchair set, or a table and chairs, a rocking chair or even a rug depending on the size of the winter garden can find their place.
They can also be completed with throws and cushions for an even softer appearance.
The flowerpots also have their function in this space and contribute to homogeneity.
The shelves or the pallets on which you will place your plants also add to the well-being side of the general atmosphere.
And if the surface allows it, why not opt for a hammock or a hanging seat?
It is important that the chosen room has a ventilation system so that mold and humidity do not settle and that the air is properly renewed for the plants.

What plants or flowers to put in a winter garden?
Plants are the first decoration to install in this special place, near windows or bay windows to capture as much light as possible.
The winter garden is laid out differently from other living rooms because it brings the atmosphere of the outdoors, of nature, into the house.
Thus, it will be possible to pamper your plants while the frost or the snow is falling outside.
A way to continue to enjoy the benefits of the garden, even if it is dormant outside.
To note
For certain fragile plants in your garden, you can install them during the season in the winter garden and bring them out in the spring.
For a winter spirit, seasonal flowers will be ideal: the poinsettia, with its bright red bracts, the hyacinths or the orchids which will give more elegance to the room.
You can also grow aromatic plants or install several plants together such as succulents, cacti, agaves for example and create a green wall, very trendy in recent years.
Ivy, a climbing plant that grows quickly, can also give an even more vegetal appearance by creeping over part of the high space.
For a little exoticism and if the atmosphere is relatively humid and to bring a tropical aspect, you can opt for aloe vera or small trees such as lemon trees, orange trees, frangipani or palm trees.
For a more zen and Asian-style atmosphere, bamboos and bonsais will find their place perfectly.
To note
It is not recommended to place plants near the radiator.
