prosecutor of Draguignan told

It is not known, however, under what circumstances the three toddlers, aged one, six and seven, were taken to Italian soil, or how the investigators managed to trace the trail to them.

After the discovery of the body of the victim on December 24, an investigation for intentional homicide had been opened and entrusted to the judicial police of Toulon.
The examination of the young woman's body by a medical examiner had
revealed

possible traces of strangulation and hematomas on the face
", according to the prosecutor Draguignan.
Since then, a judicial investigation has been opened, with referral to an investigating judge.
The main suspect, who is none other than the spouse of the mother, was arrested last Saturday in an apartment in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, in the Paris region, after two weeks on the run.
He was then hospitalized after being shot by teams from the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) responsible for his arrest.
Traveling by train and bus, the latter would have made a detour to a foreign country - without knowing the reasons - before reaching Île-de-France, where his brother and the individual housing him also been arrested.
