The US Space Agency (NASA) revealed the date of the rare appearance of the green comet in the sky for the first time in 50,000 years, on January 12th.
Sky News quoted NASA as saying: “The comet was discovered on March 2, 2022 by astronomers, using the wide-field survey cameras of the Palomar Observatory in San Diego, California, indicating that it will make its closest approach to the sun in the January 12th.
Those wishing to see the comet in the northern hemisphere must look using binoculars and telescopes to the northeastern horizon shortly before midnight to monitor it on the specified day. As for those who want to see it in the southern hemisphere, they will be able to do so in early February.
The comet can be distinguished from the stars by the green envelope that appears to be emanating from it, which is a gas that is released when it approaches the sun.
