The mayor of Petah Tikva was summoned this morning (Tuesday) for questioning on suspicion of committing corruption offenses.
This, following the investigation of the affair that began last August, and while this is the third time that Greenberg has been summoned for investigation purposes.
According to the suspicion, the incumbent mayor is involved in the commission of crimes of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, false registration in corporate documents, money laundering and crimes according to the Income Tax Ordinance and the Value Added Tax Law.
The investigation of the case began last August, after during the local government elections held in 2018 - it was suspected that Greenberg received money in the amount of hundreds of thousands of shekels.
This, for the purpose of the election campaign of the candidate for mayor at the time.
In exchange for this, according to the suspicion, the mayor promised them that he would work to advance their economic affairs after being elected.
