Today, the National Cancer Screening Campaign, held by the National Cancer Control Program, concluded in Homs Governorate, under the title (Your awareness is your strength). It aimed to investigate three types of tumors, namely breast, cervix, and prostate.
The Director of Homs Health Directorate, Dr. Musallam al-Atassi, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that since its inception, the campaign has provided more than 28,000 free services to men and women, who have benefited from the free medical examinations conducted by hospitals and fixed and private health centers participating in the campaign, in addition to the four mobile medical clinics that toured the country. Various rural areas and towns of the province.
Al-Atassi pointed to the high turnout of citizens to benefit from its services and to double the efforts of health and technical cadres on the last day of the campaign, to try to reach the largest number of beneficiaries, pointing out that the examinations were carried out according to a unified diagnostic protocol, to ensure accurate results that included mammograms and taking A cervical smear and a prostate blood draw, and that suspected cases will be followed up to ensure that they receive appropriate treatment.
The head of the reproductive health program and the executive supervisor of the campaign in Homs, Dr. Muhammad al-Aboud, explained that the four mobile medical clinics toured the various health areas in the countryside of the province to provide their free services, and were equipped with the latest medical equipment, supplies, and included a number of health workers specializing in radiology, laboratory, midwifery and nursing to conduct tests .
Al-Abboud indicated that the total number of suspected cases since the beginning of the national campaign to investigate cancer in the governorate amounted to 1,431 cases of women and men who benefited from free examination services out of the total number of samples drawn, indicating that all suspected cases will be followed up until the infection is denied or confirmed in each of Martyr Abdel Qader Shaqfa Hospital, Farzat Ayoub Hospital, and Al-Basil Hospital in Karm Al-Lawz. In the event of an accurate diagnosis of infection, patients will be transferred to Al-Bayrouni Hospital in Damascus and Tishreen Hospital in Lattakia.
