Chinese archaeologists have discovered a large number of artifacts dating back a thousand years in an ancient city in southern China's Hainan Province.
Xinhua news agency quoted the Hainan Institute of Cultural Archeology and Archeology, which, together with the Qiongshan Museum, began excavations at the aforementioned site in 1999, saying that the site was a military fortress dating back to between the middle and late Tang Dynasty and the Five Chinese Dynasties 907-960, with an area of 28,685 square meters. Two sites for building bases, pottery and building components were discovered.
And the institute indicated that these discoveries will provide archaeological information that helps to understand the administrative structure, social life, handicraft production, and economic and cultural exchanges at that time.
