The revelation is likely to have serious consequences for him and his family.

Martin Gruber (Hans Sigl, 53) and his family are happy.
Since December 29, ZDF has been showing the 16th season of the family hit, which is a remake of the 1992 Sat.1 production of the same name, and takes viewers into a world full of mountains, valleys and lakes.
In addition to heartwarming, romantic moments, things are not always peaceful and idyllic for the Grubers and their friends in the eight episodes.
Big "Bergdoktor" revelation: Martin Gruber's secret comes to light
A first trailer for the new "Bergdoktor" episodes, in which, according to Mark Keller, there is a lot of love drama, already alluded to a big secret about the main character Martin Gruber.
In the season opener, with the arrival of Caro (Barbara Lanz, 39) and Rolf Pfluger (Wolfram Berger, 77), the family of Hans Gruber's deceased wife Sonja, trouble was on the horizon and now the situation is escalating.
Because in the latest episode "A Heavy Load", which is already available in the ZDFmediathek before it is broadcast on January 11, Martin's mystery finally comes to light - and should have serious consequences for his relatives.

A shocking moment, which real "Bergdoktor" fans should certainly remember well, was the revelation that Hans Gruber is not Lilli's father (Ronja Forcher, 26), but his brother Martin.
Although Hans has long since forgiven him for the affair with his wife, Caro Pfluger has had bad feelings for the mountain doctor since her arrival at the Gruberhof - which seems to have a good reason.
As the likeable doctor now admits to his mother Elisabeth (Monika Baumgartner, 71) after all these years: He and Sonja had much more in common than just a fatal one-night stand.

“Cheated on Hans all summer long”: Bergdoktor Martin Gruber admits his love affair with Sonja
"Mom, I lied to Hans the whole time.
That with Sonja and me, that wasn't just once," explains Martin Gruber in tears, while sitting next to Lisbeth on a bench in front of the house, "We cheated on Hans all summer long."
While his conversation partner stares at him in bewilderment , he goes on to explain that the two almost went to New York together back then: "We almost did it.
I almost took my brother's wife away."
The tough farmer looks visibly shocked and, instead of going into great detail about her son's confession, only says briefly: "Hans must never find out."

Elisabeth is still one of the few who knows Martin Gruber's secret, and the passionate doctor seems to want it to stay that way.
That's probably why he's so against a family reunification with the Pflugers, because, as he emphasizes to his mother, he wants to "keep the past away from the farm." Whether that can work out well in the long term will be seen in the coming weeks.
Despite all the joy about the new episodes, the current "Bergdoktor" season has the worst ratings in years.
